The Department of Internal Medicine has a dual role in the area of patient care. We are responsible for daily urgent care for patients with internal medical issues in Graz and the surrounding area, and as a tertiary referral center, we must also maintain a high level of competence in all subspecialties of internal medicine.
Our department engages in innovative and interdisciplinary research at an international level. All areas of our discipline have a special research focus. We cover the entire spectrum of university research—from fundamentals to applied research. This is how we guarantee that our patients receive treatment according to the latest scientific findings.
As a department, we are also active in practice-oriented teaching and training for students and postgraduates. Our highly qualified staff members pass on their knowledge and the latest scientific findings to students and trainees.
